DUI can destroy families. Below are tragic cases of lives taken by DUI.

Vehicular Homicide (manslaughter, alcohol)

Wendy Ford, 37 and her daughter, Haley Ford, 10 were struck in their family minivan by defendant Christopher Linton, who ran a red light at Miller and Pinnacle Peak in Scottsdale with a .177 BAC.

Wendy died immediately and Haley lived for 20 days, enduring a broken jaw, broken leg, and brain bleeding before passing away with her family at her side. Also in the minivan were husband/father Thomas Ford, who sustained serious injuries, and son Patrick Ford, who watched his mother die.

Vehicular Homicide (manslaughter, marijuana and speed)

Veronica Armenta (age 5) was sitting in her family's car on Glendale Avenue in Glendale stopped for a school bus that was letting kids off around 3:00pm. Veronica was waving hello to the bus driver when defendant Jesus Razo, a former gang member, was speeding and high on marijuana and crashed into the back of the small white car at a high rate of speed.

Veronica died immediately with her older sister, 7-year old Victoria Armenta, her mother Sonia Diaz, and her aunt Rosie Guerrero in the car with her.

Jesus Razo was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
